Have you looked through the Esri360 Video gallery lately? This fabulous resource is jam packed with informative, interesting, and educational content that everyone really should take advantage of. With so many users migrating to the ArcGIS Pro environment there’s likely a demand for tutorials that can help. Well, here you go!
ArcGIS Exploratory Analysis
This series of online tutorials is designed to help the viewer navigate ArcGIS Pro and perform analysis and tasks with ease. Recently, Esri added several helpful videos to this training series.
Line of Sight tools Basics
This lesson explains how to use the Line of Sight Exploratory Analysis tool to quickly determine visibility between two locations using ArcGIS Pro. Interactive line of sight is used to determine if one or more targets are visible from a given observer’s viewpoint in a 3D scene. In this short video, you will learn how to:
• Interactively place an observer and one or more target locations
• Reposition both observer and target locations on the fly
• Use the C key to quickly navigate without changing active tools
• Update an existing line of sight with new properties
Slice Tools Basics
This lesson explains how to use the Slice Exploratory Analysis tool to quickly suppress part of a scene’s display to reveal hidden content in ArcGIS Pro. Interactive slice is used to reveal layers that are not typically visible within a 3D space. In this short video, you will learn how to:
• Interactively place a square horizontal plane
• Move, resize, and rotate a slice plane using its interactive handles
• Usie the C key to quickly navigate without changing active tools
• Change the plane cull direction
• Configure which layers are affected by the slice plane
Viewshed Tool Basics
This lesson explains how to use the Viewshed Exploratory Analysis tool to quickly determine outward visibility from a known location using ArcGIS Pro. Interactive viewsheds are used to determine the visible areas of a 3D view from a given viewpoint. In this short video, you will learn how to:
• Interactively place one or more viewshed observers
• Resize, rotate, and reposition a viewshed using its interactive handles
• Use the C key to quickly navigate without changing active tools
View Dome Tool Basics
This lesson explains how to use the View Dome Exploratory Analysis tool to quickly visualize which nearby surface areas have a direct view of the central location point using ArcGIS Pro. In this example, we’ll be determining the impact of city buildings upon the inhabitants and their ability to view the sky. In this short video, you will learn how to:
• Interactively place a view dome observer
• Resize a view dome using its interactive handles
• Use the C key to quickly navigate without changing active tools
