GEO Event Tips – 10 UAV & sUAS (drone) Events to Add to Your Calendar

Ah yes, the drone conference scene. As a company heavily involved in providing UAV and aerial mapping services to our clients we are always monitoring this space. There’s so many to pick and choose from, with seemingly new events popping up monthly.

Selecting which events to attend can be a challenge indeed but there are some great choices out there. The following are just a few of the coming UAV/Drone/Geo events of interest that you might wish to consider attending. Note, many GIS and related industry shows also have UAV/Drone tracks or co-located events.


Numerous UAV tech events are taking place this fall!

InterDrone 2017, Sept 6-8, Las Vegas, NV

A 3-day UAV conference and expo hall filled with more than 185 unmanned system manufacturers and sellers. The full commercial drone conference features more than 120 panels, sessions, classes and drone workshops where you can learn everything from how to get your Part 107 Pilot’s license to how to use UAVs for agriculture, construction, infrastructure inspection or aerial photography.

Autonomous Capabilities for DoD Summit, 26-27 September 2017 Alexandria, United States

DSI’s Autonomous Capabilities for DoD Summit is an educational and training “Town Hall” forum, where thought leaders and key policy-makers across DoD and civilian organizations, industry and academia can come together for actionable discussions and debate.

Big Drone Show, 27-28 September 2017 Toronto, Canada

Big Drone Show, will be Canada’s largest gathering of UAV/UAS/drone professionals and enthusiasts. This two-day conference will focus on the technology being used and developed across various commercial and defense applications. The conference will explore how unmanned technology aims to disrupt business across a wide range of markets and domains.

Commercial UAV Expo – Oct 24-26, 2017, Las Vegas NV

A popular, must event for professionals interested in UAV mapping technologies. Sessions and training focus on 3D, drone mapping and related technologies. The second edition of Commercial UAV Expo in 2016 hit it out of the park, with 170 booths of the latest drone technology for industrial applications and 1,720 commercial attendees. – NOTE: the Geo Jobe UAV crew will be in attendance if you’d like to connect with us!

ASPRS UAS Certification Program, Oct 24

ASPRS will be hosting a pre-conference UAS Technical Symposium  at the Commercial UAV Expo in Las Vegas on Tuesday October 24th. Participants in the UAS Technical Symposium will have the opportunity to sit for the UAS Mapping Certification exam on Wednesday October 25th

DroneWorld Expo – Oct 3-4, 2017, San Jose CA

Coinciding with commercial drone week (Oct 1-6) , thought leaders, industry experts and end-users will gather at Drone World Expo in the heart of Silicon Valley to present real-world solutions to your business and environmental challenges. Expect more than 3,000 attendees at this event.

Unmanned Canada – Nov 1-3, 2017, Toronto ON

Join aerospace professionals, researchers, knowledge brokers, and policy and decision makers at Canada’s premier national conference and trade show showcasing Canadian sector capabilities. Now in it’s 15th year.

National Drone Show, D.C., Nov 29-30, 2017

The 2017 National Drone Show is an exciting conference and expo featuring red-hot Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) video capture technology. This year’s show also features the launch of the first D.C. Drone Film Festival and an Advanced UAV Workshop produced by education partners Future Media Concepts and Sundance Media Group (SMG).

Leading UAV Service Provider Aerodyne is pleased to announce that they will be attending the second annual DJI AirWorks conference in Denver, Colorado from 7-9th November 2017. Aerodyne will be addressing the conference to share their experiences of using DJI Enterprise Drones in the Oil & Gas and Energy industries.

Commercial UAV Show, 15-16 November 2017 London, United Kingdom

4th Commercial UAV Show: Europe’s largest gathering of the commercial and civilian UAV community. This event is a showcase for new civilian and commercial applications for UAVs. Our visitors span the breadth of end users: surveying, photography, mapping, GIS, emergency services, agriculture, utilities, infrastructure and more.
