GeoDev Opportunity – Build a Widget Using the ArcGIS API for JavaScript

Here’s an opportunity for developers, would-be developers, students, and other geogeeks to learn how to build a great user experience for users of your apps. The ArcGIS API for JavaScript provides the tools for you to build a great user experience that will work well with any screen size.

GeoDev Webinars

So, where to start? The Esri Developer Outreach team is continuing with their new GeoDev webinar series – a webinar series produced by developers for developers. The next edition of the series will cover the ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Esri’s next-generation JavaScript API that integrates 2D and 3D into a single, easy-to-use, powerful API.

From the team… on Wednesday, March 21st, we will be hosting our next GeoDev webinar, Building a Widget Using the ArcGIS API for JavaScript, where our hosts, Matt Driscoll and JC Franco will show you, with the 4.x ArcGIS API for JavaScript, how you can easily build great user interfaces for your applications. Learn how to build an awesome JavaScript widget using our API. We’ll discuss requirements (such as TypeScript), cover widget building fundamentals, walk through examples, share development tips, and answer widget questions.

More About the JavaScript API

The ArcGIS API for JavaScript is designed to maximize your productivity for building engaging, beautiful web mapping applications. The API combines modern web technology and powerful geospatial capabilities enabling you to create high-performing apps and smarter visualizations of your data. Version 4.6 lets you build full-featured 3D applications powered by web scenes that can include rich information layers such as terrainbasemapsimageryfeaturesintegrated mesh layers, and 3D objects.

Build your first app. Here’s a resource/tutorial you can dive into. In this tutorial, you will build an application that displays a full screen map using a basemap from ArcGIS Online. Additional helpful information is included.
