Sadly, baseball season has come to an end (yup, and yours truly is indeed a huge ball fan and a little lost today with the end of the MLB season) and WOW, did the season end on a high note with an Epic win by the Cubs to cap off a dream season. For the GeoGeek baseball enthusiast though the season doesn’t have to end – why not pimp out your maps with your team’s colors?
Yes indeed, we stumbled onto a very clever resource, generously hosted on Github, that enables anyone to create a colorful map using your favorite team colors in order to remind all your colleagues and friends about your loyalty to the team!
The team basemaps map service provides pre-defined color basemap layers defined for just about every professional sports team you can imagine. Users can select from English Premiere League teams, the MBL (baseball), MLS soccer, NBA basketball, NFL football, and NHL hockey. Simply zoom to an area of interest, elect a team from the pull-down menu, and capture the image for use any way you see fit (perhaps a fun, geeky, facebook or Twitter cover page).
Enjoy, oh, and from the creator, feel free to Fork the service as well

TIP for ArcGIS Users!
Oh, and something that I almost missed, users can also download and save their favorite team basemap layer for use in ArcGIS Online! Simply create the map as desired, then using the download button (upper right corner) download, connect to your ArcGIS Online account, and view / use the basemap layer in your maps and apps inside AGO – nice!
