Many people enjoy the perks of having a pet in their life. As geographers, it was only a matter of time before we tried to map them. The GEO Jobe staff has more geopets, as we’ve come to call them, than we initially realized, which made us curious about all the geopets other geographers may have. Read on for a humpday filled with furry faces.

GeoPets of GEO Jobe
There are currently nineteen geopets cared for by various GEO Jobe employees. We laid out some stats and a brief bio about them in the story map below (which you may also access here if you’d prefer a larger viewing).
If you’d prefer to see where these geopets are located by office, checkout this web map.
Contest: Show Us Your Geopets!
Not finished checking out the geopets? Have your own to show off? We couldn’t get enough either, so now we’re hosting a contest! Between now and the end of August, if you post a tweet using the tags @GEOJobeGIS and #geopet, you will be entered into a drawing to win a prize from our MapThis! shop.

If you want to see where the geopets are, check out this application, which will map any of the qualifying tweets that also have location data. If nothing appears when you first open the application, navigate to the ‘Layers’ tab and ensure you’ve given Twitter permission to share data with the application.
