Are you a facebook Page manager for your business? If so, some recent changes (as of July 18, 2017) may affect how you manage your page. Details – Starting TODAY, July 18th, 2017, Facebook is no longer allowing modifications to link previews. A look at how this may impact you courtesy of the fine folks at Co-Schedule.
So, what does this mean? If you post to facebook think of this scenario. You post a snippet of text and add a web url to read more info, perhaps a link to your latest blog post. In the past facebook would provide a preview look at how your post will appear and users could optionally make a change – a handy feature showing an image that is related to the post would typically be included. Guess what, this is now changing. Perhaps a good way to get around this would be to post an image of your choice along with the text, thereby giving you more control over what will appear in your post. Read on for more about this from co-schedule.
How this impacts you:
- As of TODAY, any scheduled Facebook messages with a modified link preview will revert back to the original link preview (the original title, description, and photo that existed before any edits were made).
- As of TODAY, any ReQueue messages for Facebook with a modified link preview will revert back to the original link preview (the original title, description, and photo that existed before any edits were made).
More Details:
To quote the Facebook for Developers website, this update is “eliminating a channel that has been used to post false news.”
AKA Facebook is taking serious actions to stop the spread of false information.
And as people who care a lot about content (TRUE content)….
…this change is something we can all get behind.
So again, the gist of the Facebook change is this…
Any Facebook message in your CoSchedule calendar with a modified link preview is impacted and will revert back to the original link preview (before any edits were made).
