Clean My Org version 1.6.1 is a significant update that introduces new scanning capabilities, enhanced configuration options, and important bug fixes.
This update builds on the foundation of version 1.6, expanding the tool’s ability to help ArcGIS administrators keep their organizations clean and efficient. Key additions include new types of scans for users and items, improvements to existing scan filters for more precise results, and better security features such as HTTPS enhancements.
Overall, the 1.6.1 release improves the user experience and ensures that maintaining your ArcGIS Online or Enterprise Organization is easier and more secure than ever.

New Scans
Clean My Org 1.6.1 features several new scan types that allow administrators to pinpoint specific users or items based on certain criteria. These new scans provide greater flexibility in finding content or accounts that meet particular conditions:
- Users Created Before/After X – Identify user accounts created before or after a specified date. This scan helps find very old accounts or those created recently, useful for auditing account lifecycles or post-migration user activity.
- Users with Total Storage Less Than X – Find users whose total content storage is below a given threshold (in megabytes). This can highlight accounts that are overutilized or underutilized.
- Items That are Public or Private – Locate items based on their sharing settings. Administrators can now scan for content that is publicly accessible or content that remains private. This is useful for reviewing whether items are appropriately shared (e.g. ensuring no sensitive data is unintentionally public, or conversely, finding content that could be shared more widely).
- Items Modified Within X Days – List items that have been modified in the last X days. This scan focuses on recently updated content, which is helpful for monitoring current activity, reviewing recent changes, or identifying items that are actively being maintained.
- Feature Services Modified Within X Days (ArcGIS Online only) – This scan finds feature service items that were modified in the last X days. It provides an easy way to track recent edits or updates to feature services, aiding in managing frequently updated datasets. (Scan is not available for ArcGIS Enterprise deployments.)
Each of these new scans empowers administrators to target clean-up efforts more precisely, whether it’s by time frame, usage, or sharing level. By using the new filters, you can quickly generate focused reports and address potential issues or unnecessary content in your ArcGIS organization.

Improvements to Existing Scans
Version 1.6.1 also brings refinements to some of the existing scan types, adding more options and clarity to the results:
- Expanded Public/Private Scan Options – The scans that check for public or private items and services now include additional filters for organization and group sharing levels. Administrators can choose to scan for content shared with the entire organization (org), shared to specific groups, or truly private content (visible only to the owner). This enhancement allows for more granular audits. For example, you can find items that are not public but still broadly accessible within your organization, or identify services shared to external groups. This level of detail helps ensure that sharing permissions across your content are aligned with your organization’s policies.
- Refined “Users Logged in Within X Days” Scan – The user activity scan has been improved for clarity by separating users who have logged in within the last X days from those who have not logged in within that period. Now, Clean My Org distinctly reports active users versus inactive users over the chosen timeframe, making it easier to identify which accounts are truly idle.
- Better Caching Messages for On-Demand Scans – When running on-demand scans, the application now provides improved messaging related to caching. Improved cache feedback ensures that administrators understand the scan’s progress and whether they are viewing the latest information.
New Nodeconfig Options
Clean My Org 1.6.1 introduces additional settings in the Node configuration (nodeconfig) file, giving administrators more control over logging and security behaviors. The new nodeconfig options are:
useMongoLogins
– When set to true, this option enables the tracking of user login events in the LogLogins collection within MongoDB. In other words, every time a user logs into the Clean My Org interface, a record of that event is stored in the MongoDB database. This is useful for auditing and monitoring login activity over time via the database, especially for security compliance or usage tracking purposes.logLogin
– This option, if enabled, will log user login events to a local log file (under thereport/loglogins
folder on the server). This provides a file-based record of logins to the Clean My Org application. Even if you are not leveraging MongoDB for login auditing, thelogLogin
file can serve as a quick reference to see when and who accessed the system, which is helpful for administrators reviewing access patterns or investigating security issues.enableHSTS
– When set to true, this option enables HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) on the Clean My Org server. Enabling HSTS means that once users access Clean My Org via HTTPS, their browsers will be instructed to always use HTTPS for future requests to the server for a defined period. This improves security by preventing any attempt to downgrade the connection to an insecure HTTP link. Essentially, enableHSTS
helps enforce secure, encrypted communication and protect against certain types of man-in-the-middle attacks.PFX Support
– Clean My Org can now utilize PFX (PKCS#12) certificate files to enable secure SSL/TLS connections on its web server. For instructions on how to install your PFX certificate, please visit our kbase article here.
Additional Improvements
- “Test Mail” in Mail Settings – A new “Test Mail” button has been added to the email settings configuration. Administrators can send a test email to verify that the SMTP or mail service settings are correct before saving. This quality-of-life improvement makes it straightforward to ensure email notifications will work by allowing immediate testing of the mail configuration right from the interface.
- Customer Number on License Page – The license management page now displays the customer number associated with the Clean My Org license, helping administrators quickly identify their customer number for support issues.
- Additional Hardware Logging – The application now performs more extensive logging of hardware and system information to assist with troubleshooting.
